Gil Tonozzi was born and raised in Spring Valley Illinois. He moved to Hennepin in 1960 to serve as a Junior High teacher and coach. Thereafter, he became Junior High Principal for the Putnam County School District and served in that capacity for 29 years.

Gil and his wife Diane live in Hennepin. They are the parents of two children, Sherri and Dawn, and the grandparents of Shawn, Matthew, and Ellis. Gil has one brother, Thomas, an Attorney in Spring Valley.

Gil previously was a trustee on the Hennepin Village Board for a period of 14 years. He currently is completing his 3rd term as a member of the Putnam County Board of Supervisors.
