James A. Mack was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in LaSalle, Illinois. He attended Illinois Valley Community College and received his undergraduate degree from Illinois State University. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1995 from Northern Illinois University college of Law. Mr. Mack served as President of the Student Bar Association while in law school and also served as co-editor of “The Advocate”, the law school’s newspaper. After law school, Mr. Mack was engaged in private practice at the law firm of Boyle, Goldsmith and Bolin in Hennepin. While in private practice, Mr. Mack represented numerous governmental entities, decedent’s estates, and injury victims. James was elected State’s Attorney of Putnam County in 2000 and again in 2008.
Mr. Mack is dedicated to Putnam County. He is President of the Granville Rotary, Grand Knight of the Father Dilo Council of the Knights of Columbus, member and past President of the Hennepin Business and Betterment Association, Secretary of the Putnam County Bar Association, Member of the EFSP Board, and board member of Community Partners Against Substance Abuse Coalition. In addition to the above, Mr. Mack also serves the children of Putnam County by being a presenter at forums that address legal issues of children and young adults to help them make good choices.
As State’s Attorney, Mr. Mack prosecutes criminal defendants and represents the County and all elected Putnam County Officials in civil, labor and administrative matters.
James lives in Hennepin with his wife, Beth and their children, Roman and Veronika.
